Though it may not seem directly library related, perhaps figuring out as individuals how we can reduce our impact on greenhouse gas emissions could become a postive challenge you could ask of some of your fellow work colleagues. Here are two Web sites to calculate your carbon footprint:

From Nature Conservancy Web site

From Newsday.com

Hi there! I found you whilst tag surfing. I have a post on “50 Ways to Make a Difference” here at my blog: http://12amusings.wordpress.com/2008/05/05/50-ways-to-make-a-difference/

It’s a neat list of mostly low cost actions you can take today to make a positive impact on your carbon footprint. I didn’t write it; I found it on a different day of tag surfing and reposted it to my blog. You are welcome to do the same (details are on my blog and the original site).

Check out this US Carbon Footprint Map, an interactive United States Carbon Footprint Map, illustrating Greenest States. This site has all sorts of stats on individual State energy consumptions, demographics and State energy offices.

I waned to respond to comment from eredux “http://www.eredux.com/states/” to say it is worth checking out! Just a quick click on the link will show you this easy to read chart ranking states in carbon dioxide emissions (hmm I just moved from #23 up to #12 - guess now I need to work even harder to lower my carbon footprint, eh?)
