Voices of a Warming Planet: oral history interviews with leading scholars

A website on climate change, created by the Oregon State University Libraries Special Collections and Archives Research Center called the Voices of a Warming Planet, features oral history interviews with 12 leading figures from Oregon State University. The website consists of oral history interviews conducted with OSU faculty, staff and students who are engaged in climate change research from multiple scholarly vantage points, including the oceanographic and atmospheric sciences, forestry, agriculture, ethics, public health, and public policy, tracing each narrator’s path through academia while paying particular attention to their research and perspectives on global warming.

#YouthStepUp Climate Contest

Do they want to participate in the upcoming Global Climate Action Summit and challenge the status quo?  Tell them to apply for the #YouthStepUp Climate Contest   This contest, organized by Our Climate, invites young people from across the United States to submit their ideas for bold solutions to combat climate change via a creative project and essay. Winners will receive prizes of up to $5,000 and an all-expenses paid trip to attend the summit in San Francisco on September 12-14, 2018. The goal of the contest is to engage young people from across the U.S. in international climate discussions, and accelerate even greater levels of youth action on climate solutions.

Submit a Session or Poster to the NCSE 2019 Annual Conference, January 8-9

The National Council for Science and the Environment is now accepting proposals for sessions and posters for the 2019 Annual Conference, January 8-9, 2019 in Washington, D.C. This is an opportunity to share your research and experiences with colleagues who are actively working in the fields of sustainability, resilience, and education.
NCSE seeks sessions and posters that reinforce this year’s conference theme of Sustainable Infrastructure & Resilience. Our planet is facing challenges such as extreme weather, growing urbanization, and resource scarcity. Cities and ecosystems are more vulnerable than ever, triggering an urgent call for a sustainable, healthy, and just world. More recently, the concept of resilience has become integrated into our thinking. This year’s conference will explore the challenges and opportunities emerging at the intersection of natural, built, cyber, and social infrastructure as well as best practices. We will also look at community resilience and discuss how to apply best practices to all communities.
